Hello!

I'm Miguel Avello

About Me.

Miguel Avello was born in Valparaiso, Chile. During his college years, he relocated to the US and has since dedicated his life to his family and work in global companies. Currently, he works in Michigan at Whirlpool Corporation as a Global Director of Product Development.

Recently, Miguel had the responsibility of leading a global team to develop and deploy a global architecture in three regions: North America, Asia, and Europe. The COVID years tested his global team and created significant challenges in executing this key program. The team's creativity was tested with the supply base and parts availability, driving these teams through many challenges, yet delivering a phenomenal product.

Miguel holds a degree in Industrial Engineering with a minor in Mechanical Engineering from Santa Maria University, a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Fluid Dynamics from Ohio Northern University, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from IWU.

Additionally, he is PMI certified in Project Management and has studied Architecture and Systems Engineering: Models and Methods to Manage Complex Systems from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Global Architecture Development

A great team success story. Great engineering, great minds and a great delivery. As the Global Project Leader for the DW03G architecture strategy, I successfully deployed this innovative approach globally through a multi-regional approach in 2021. This involved overseeing the deployment of this architecture in 2 factories and 6 tech centers, resulting in the delivery of over 1.6 million units of volume for 6 brands, achieving "green" on the "Product Leadership Score Card" for both North America and China.

This is a story of great team success. With great engineering, great minds, and great delivery, as the Global Project Leader for the DW03G architecture strategy, I successfully deployed this innovative approach globally through a multi-regional approach in 2021. This involved overseeing the deployment of this architecture in 2 factories and 6 tech centers, resulting in the delivery of over 1.6 million units of volume for 6 brands, achieving "green" on the "Product Leadership Score Card" for both North America and China.

Under my leadership, the project delivered true innovation, including the industry's first dynamic washing third level rack and meaningful space management. I successfully translated the Voice of the Customer to the Voice of Engineering, enabling superior product attribute delivery and innovation. The DW03G-N project, which delivered 3 phases of product leadership, saw significant success, with KAD achieving the highest 5-star rating in the market, JennAir delivering the Quietest Luxury Dishwasher brand, and Maytag boasting a powerful dual filtration system. Within just 6 months of Phase 1 launch, we saw a 1pp share increase in the SS segment and gained 1.6K incremental floor spots.

Furthermore, the DW03G-A project, which I spearheaded, delivered the largest capacity at the best performance, with 15 place settings at the top GB level 1 certification. It also included a large tub to fit big woks with a dedicated Power Clean system to scrub the toughest soils. The brand new factory in Hefei, which I oversaw, recently won the Global Quality Award for achieving 100% in Test Coverage and the most flexible tub line in the world.
